The Music Ministry of St. Philip

 

Following the tradition of Martin Luther, music in an integral part of worship. We emphasize the Word through sung liturgy and hymns. Through the singing of the Word, we remember God’s love and grace so freely given through the risen Christ.

Altar Choir             

• Altar Choir is open to anyone who enjoys singing
• From ages 16-106
• Church member or non church member

 

June through August, we present a musical offering each Sunday at the 9:30 A.M. service. September through June we present a musical offering at both Sunday morning services: 8:30 and 11:00.

 

Our doors are always open.  Membership in the Altar Choir is open to anyone. If you are not affiliated with a church and enjoy singing, we invite you to visit a rehearsal or two. Perhaps you will decide to join us.

 

For the year, 2006 our Wednesday rehearsals are, June 21, July 12 and 26, August 16 and 30. The 2006-2007 year, September through May, begins with the rehearsal on July 30. All rehearsals begin at 7:00 P.M.

 

Children’s Choir

• Children’s choir has been a seasonal choir consisting of kids from 1^st grade through 6^th grade. Parents and children interested in children’s choir, please see the Cantor.

 

Instrumental Ensemble

• An instrumental ensemble has been a seasonal musical offering, which helps lead worship on special Sundays. Anyone interested, please contact the Cantor.

 

Sunday Morning Worship

During the fall – spring season we have two worship services each Sunday morning.

• The 8:30 worship: service uses a more contemporary liturgy with traditional and contemporary hymns.
• The 11:00 worship service: alternates with the traditional liturgy from the LBW (Lutheran Book of Worship) and WOV (With One Voice.) Again the musical worship is augmented with a mixture of traditional and contemporary hymn.
